Apart from being a fashion enthusiast what interests me the most is keeping the latest gadget in my pocket. If there is one thing I can’t live without, that is definitely my phone and what’s better when you have something that is at par with your expectation. Luckily I got my hands on the latest launch, Asus zenfone 3, and I so badly wanted to tell you all about my experience with this exciting little thing.
The entire feeling of receiving my new phone, holding it in my hands and scrolling the screen up and down was blissful. When I got my phone, I quickly unboxed it and was extremely elated to grasp the 5.2″ elegant body made of shimmering glass and metal. It certainly looked beautiful with that contoured corning Gorilla Glass all around. I then checked the back of my phone to see the concentric circles which is signature of Zenfone. The look and feel of the phone itself was compelling enough for me to admit that I loved it.

Now was the time to turn it on and see how it performed. Although I don’t really deep dive into the technical aspects of the phone I use, I still tend to look for some basic features to avoid any sort of issues in the future and have a hassle free time using it. The rich and vibrant colors on the screen of Asus Zenfone 3 looked impressive and the touch sensor was pretty good as the phone responded instantly and I experienced no time lags which could definitely be due to the 14nm Snapdraon processor with 64-Bit Octa-Core CPU @2.0Ghz that this phone possesses. Often it is seen that a heavy processor means a great amount of stress on phone’s battery. Fortunately this has been taken care of in this phone as it uses FinFet LPP technology which increases the power saving by more than 35% and it literally lasts for the whole day without needing to be charged over and over again. A heavy processor also comes with an assumption that phone may have heating concern (I have dealt with it when I had Samsung S4) but again this is not the case with zenfone 3 as it has a type C charging which ensures that the phone never heats up while getting charged or while playing games/surfing the web. Even the small things such as position of the finger print sensor, power button, volume buttons, speakers are well placed on the phone. While using the phone you understand how well everything is assembled and with such an ease you are able to access them all. The Android marshmallow OS is at its software core and with ZenUI it is a great experience using the phone.
The most important feature that impacts the likability of the phone is the camera. In today’s world, where we see social media getting flooded every minute with selfies from around the world, a camera plays a key role. Since Asus zenfone 3 makes tall claims about its camera features, I tried to put it on a test and noticed that it really lives up to some of the promises it makes. With a 16 MP rear camera and 8 MP front camera does a good job at capturing images that are not just clear but brighter and more vivid. I tried various inbuilt modes available in Zenfone 3 to see how good are the pictures and also if they are any better than those clicked from my Iphone 6.
In the above pictures, you will observe a very obvious difference in the clarity between the pictures clicked from my Iphone 6 and Asus Zenfone 3. The pictures taken from the Asus Zenfone are relatively cool toned and less distorted then those taken from an Iphone and are much more sharp and precise. Talking about the modes, the most flattering one is the ‘Depth of Field’ Mode as it brings the subject in focus while blurring the rest of the things in the frame. The picture quality is quite comparable to a low end DSLR camera and would work beautifully for product photography and portraits. ‘Low Light’ mode was again something pretty remarkable as the clicks were more accurate and had high pixel rate. I also tried to capture a moving shot to see if the auto focus mode could detect the object and produce a more stabilized image but frankly this one didn’t work well. ‘Selfie’ mode gives a relatively softened image so you really do not have to spend a lot of time editing a picture if you already do that. It offers many other modes to try as well. Overall, the camera performs great and the images would just need a little amount of work in case you lookout for perfection.
There is no doubt that the phone is loaded with features and lauded by its manufacturers. After using the phone and evaluating all the features I must say that phone offers a lot comparing the price tag it carries. I am completely in love with it and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a sleek Smartphone with a promising performance on that price.
Hope you enjoyed reading my take on Asus Zenfone 3.
