It was 11th September 2015.
My mum drove me and my dad to this society in Zirakpur which had the most beautiful entrance with palm trees, shrubs, flowers and plants on either side of the road. It led us to a tall gate with two guards standing at the corners. They were well dressed and looked attentive yet had that warm smile on their faces. They opened the gate for us and welcomed us in. We parked our car and quickly took the lift to the 5th floor. The anxiety we had, made every passing second seem like a decade. Was it the lift that was taking time or was it my impatience? Finally the door opened and I rushed out with the keys and unlocked the door for my parents. When we entered all three of us were looking in all possible directions checking all nooks and corner, touching the walls, feeling the breeze of air inside. The aroma of freshly painted walls mixed with the lingering scent of newly polished wooden doors was magnificent. All of us were just staring at this empty room with our mouths wide open.. We were awestruck!! You all must be thinking that I have gone crazy. Yes, I have and that is how it felt buying our first ever home.
I was living my dream at that moment. After a tiring day of paper work in bank and registry office, the warmth and comfort that I was experiencing here was incomparable. While my mom was keen about the kitchen, I started exploring rest of the space. The living room was huge with a wall full of windows. I could see the rays of sun lighting up each and every edge of this area. It was followed by 3 rooms, each having a separate balcony. I could stand there for hours gazing the city, the blue sky and the mountains far behind. I knew I wanted my room to be a cute and cozy one and as soon as I entered the 2nd one I screamed “I want it” and my parents laughed seeing my excitement. I looked around and could imagine how I wanted it to be.
I want my room to be colorful, bright and full of life. It will have a recliner at one side of the room and next to it would be a small wooden table. I will have a dresser at the corner with a huge mirror. We will place a queen size bed right next to the recliner just beneath the window. Opposite to the bed will be my closet to accommodate all of my dresses and shoes. I will make a wall of frame where I will put photos of all my near and dear ones…..
When I was bemused with all these ideas on my mind, I heard a loud voice calling my name. My mom brought me back to my senses. Someone said it right-
“We may roam and roam places on the earth But home, sweet home is the place of mirth.”
While I create an image of my perfect home, you can get some more bedroom ideas here –
We will be moving in to our new house on 22nd October. I am beyond happy and I am sure you noticed it by now. I will be sharing more on it at frequent intervals.
