Are you a girl who can’t leave home without putting on kajal? Are you a girl who loves heavily kohled eyes? Are you the one who is being called ‘sick’ when you dont have kajal on? Are you a kajal-obssessed girl like me ? If yes then give me a hi5 *blum* Today I am going to compare 4 of my favorite budget kajals available in India and I am going to pick my top favorite amongst my favorites . Excited *crazy* ???
I am a kajal lover.. I just feel it defines your eyes beautifully and make them look sexier. So while I was already using some of the most popular drug store kajals, I thought it would be a good idea to let you guys know which one I love the most. I would be sharing my opinion on each one of them with respect to some properties that probably all of us look for in our Holy Grail kajal. Today, I am going to compare Maybelline Colossal Kajal, L’oreal Kajal Magique, Lakme Eyeconic kajal and Faces Magnet Eyes Kajal. So let’s begin
All four come in the retractable pencil form which according to me is the most convenient packaging invented for kajals. The only thing that I am not able to do with retractable pencils is to make a perfect wing.. The ends of the wing always turn out to be fat and messy with these pencils because of the blunt tip. Anyway, out of all four kajals , I personally find Maybelline colossal kajal‘s packaging the most attractive because of its vibrant yellow color.
For me the most important thing in my kajal is its color intensity. If its is not pigmented enough, it becomes a looser for me. Fortunately all four kajals that I am comparing today are highly pigmented but the best of all is Lakme eyeconic kajal. Next to it comes faces magnet eyes kajal. I was surprised to see how rich color it imparts and how beautifully it applies on the eyes. Maybelline comes 3rd and l’oreal stands last in the category.
If I talk about the texture, Lakme eyeconic kajal again wins the game. It is the creamiest of all four and glides like a dream. Just one stroke of it is enough to leave a perfect trail of kohl on eyes. Faces magnet eyes is almost similar to lakme and applies very smoothly. Next comes L’oreal Kajal magique, it is soft and glides easily but then you need multiple swipes to get the right amount of color on the eyes. Maybelline colossal kajal is not as smooth as the other three and you need to put a little amount of pressure while you apply it as it is matte in texture but its not too difficult.
All kajals last fairly long (6-7 hours) on the waterline and stay put on the upper lash line for the entire day. My kajal usually gets disappeared from the outer part of the waterline however Lakme and Faces are my top favorites in this category too as they stay on the waterline longer then the other two.
Except L’oreal magique kajal, all the other three are brilliant at being smudge proof. All of them are waterproof. L’oreal does smudge a bit on my oily lids and smears at the ends. It also gets transferred a bit. Lakme doesn’t budge at all. So Lakme would again be my preference in this category.
Easy to remove
No matter how good a kajal is, I like them to be easy to remove as well. In this regard L’oreal Kajal magique is the easiest to take off followed by Maybelline Colossal. Lakme and faces need quite an effort to be removed completely. However this is not a big task as an oil based remover or Olive/Baby oil does the job quite easily.
Quantity and Price
L’oreal Kajal Magique – 0.35g for INR 245
Maybelline Colossal Kajal – 0.35g for INR 175
Lakme Eyeconic Kajal – 0.35g for INR 199
Faces Magnet Eyes Kajal – 0.35g for INR 175
So it is very clear that the winner of the Kajal war is Lakme eyeconic kajal which fulfills most of my requirements. I love how creamy it is and how it stays put on my eyes for hours without getting smudged. The next best option available is Faces magnet eyes kajal. I feel it is quite under rated but it is equally good in terms of pigmentation, texture, quality and durability so if you haven’t tried it out yet , you must.
