Hope you had a lovely weekend. I am really sad because my blog is suffering from acne ( do you see the dots all around ) and I am not able to fix it ( Am I a software engineer REALLY ? ) So you know now how badly I am ignoring my JOB, I don’t understand code anymore *rofl* Without wasting any time I will tell you about the product which I am going to review today and it is MUA Glamour Nights Palette . I have talked about it in my July favorites post and also did smokey grey eye makeup tutorial and purple eye makeup tutorial. What drew me towards this palette was the shade selection and the price tag ofcourse. Having seen the prices of the imported brands, I was very surprised to see how cheap this palette was. So read on to find out more about this beautiful palette.
Price : £4 ( Rs.408 pprox )
Quantity : 9 gm
What MUA claims?
“Glamour Nights Eye Palette contains 12 hot new eye shadows in shimmer and matte to give you the most beautiful party looks. Whether you’re after a classic smoky eye, a catwalk metallic hue or a bright pop of colour, you’ll find it all here in MUA’s Glamour Nights”.
The palette comes in a sleek black plastic case with a transparent lid which allows one to see the colors in the palette and also locate it easily if you own more than one. It has a dual sided sponge applicator which has a wide flat end. This palette doesn’t consist of a mirror so you need to carry one while using it. The packaging is compact , efficient but a little flimzy but seeing the price , it is quite acceptable
As most of the MUA palettes that I checked online, this one is also a combination of 12 colors – matte and shimmery. It is more of an evening to night time palette which has a unique range of shades which helps you to create beautiful glamorous eye looks. The mattes are buttery smooth and very easy to blend (soft mattes are hard to find). The shimmery eye shadows have a lovely finish , great texture and the best thing is they don’t fall all over your face.
Almost all the colors are highly pigmented and are very easy to work with, except the lighter shades which does need a build up of color. The only shadow that wasn’t as great as the rest in terms of texture and color payoff is the white matte shade. It is barely visible on the eyes and I find it a bit chalky. Grey and sheer pink/pearl ,the other two light colors from the palette, appears light on the skin as compared to what they look in the pan. The most eye catching colors in this palette are the matte lilac and red. You need just a tiny swipe of these two shades to make your eyes pop. Then there are few deep colors in the palette like shimmery purple, dark blue and matte black which are ideal to create a perfect smokey eye look. Silver and golden color are tad bit gritty because of tiny specks of shimmer present in them but they look absolutely fantastic on the eyes and adds beautiful shine to the lids. The shimmer is not very overpowering so it makes them very wearable. I use these two shades to highlight the inner corners of my eyes. The shimmery green shade is perfect Christmas color. My favorite shade from this palette is the shimmery brown (last color in the Top row). It looks absolutely stunning on the eyes and can be worn both in the day and at night. You can pair this color with so many colors and create different looks according to your choice.
Without a primer, the eye shadows stay put for good 4-5 hour but I prefer using a primer on the lids before applying the eye shadows for the them to look intense and last longer. I do layer the shades so that might be one reason for the good wear time. If I don’t use a primer underneath, the first sign of creasing on my hooded-oily lids appears around the 4th hour , which I think is a pretty decent performance.
One thing that I didn’t like about this palette is that the shades don’t have any names.
The eye shadow quality is great and you can play with the shades to create a soft eye or a dramatic look with these. This palette has everything you need to make a glamorous night eye makeup look.
Buy it here (official MUA website) or here(jabong).
How to Use :
- Apply eye primer all over the lids
- Take the eye shadow on an eye shader brush and pack the color on you lids.
- Blend the eye shadow well with a blending brush.
And here are the looks that I achieved using this awesome palette
Overall I think, it is an amazing palette for this price! One can do a wide range of looks with this starting from a soft day time look to a bold smoke eye. The only downside is that some of these shades (the light matte ones) may not show up very well on pigmented lids. I personally love this palette as it is a nice mix of matte and shimmery shades and I highly recommend it
